Lost & Found
Samsonite MEA / Europe · 3 New York Festivals awards

The project
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Samsonite’s iconic Cosmolite suitcase, the Hanzo Films group conceived and produced this short film. The aim was to show the product’s enduring quality through a decade-long journey. A Cosmolite is accidentally left behind and becomes an unlikely companion to the man who finds it. Over ten years he uses it in different ways to navigate life, forming an unexpected bond with the object before deciding to return it.
Shot over three days in Kyiv, Ukraine, the production needed meticulous planning to portray the passage of time. Casting actors who could convincingly age ten years meant looking beyond appearance to subtle changes in body language, and after auditions with over 70 actors the right leads were found. Multiple suitcases were painstakingly distressed to show a decade of wear, and an unexpected rain shower became a creative opportunity: a scene in which the suitcase doubles as an umbrella.
The film earned three awards at the New York Festivals, for Casting, Original Music and Cinematography.
